WHISKEY BEETLE

A dimensional surface where material, craftsmanship, and light work together—rewarding close viewing.

Whiskey Beetle is built gradually, using layered resin to create depth and capture light. Translucent orange-tinted resin is poured in stages, with iridescent glitter embedded early in the process to form a luminous foundation.

After curing, the surface is sanded and a tribal-inspired form is gilded with variegated leaf, then outlined and sealed beneath clear resin. Diamond shapes are introduced over time, each suspended at a different depth. Pinstriping in yellow and ivory is added in measured stages, with select diamonds crossing over the linework so color, metal, and line interact through the layers. A final diamond form in copper leaf brings warmth and contrast near the surface.

Once complete, the piece is released from the tray, cut and shaped, and the edges are refined. A flood coat is poured over the top, allowing resin to flow over the sides and unify the surface. The back is finished in a rust tone, subtly deepening the color from the front, before mounting blocks are installed and sealed.

Whiskey Beetle is finished through wet sanding and polishing.
