Mike Chamberlin
Mike Chamberlin was born in Wisconsin in 1959. He attended Madison East High School, where he first realized his passion for art, setting him on a path to a lifelong career in creativity.
In the summer of 1979, Mike began his journey in the sign industry, mastering traditional sign painting, airbrushing, pinstriping, and gold leaf techniques. In 1992, he founded his own sign company, Vital Signs, in Verona, WI. Over the next 28 years, Mike networked with individuals worldwide, continuously expanding his expertise in the trade. During this time, he began experimenting with scrap aluminum from his sign company and translucent tints mixed with automotive clear, creating large pieces of wall art. He showcased these artworks at juried art shows in Florida and the Midwest. Observing other artists’ similar work led Mike to pivot his artistic direction toward pinstripe art.
After retiring in 2021, Mike decided to showcase pinstriping as an art form. He has been working with epoxy resin to create depth and incorporating various types of leaf—gold, silver, copper, and variegated—along with wood and recycled materials, resulting in unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Mike Chamberlin’s journey reflects his lifelong dedication to evolving as an artist and exploring new techniques and materials. Mike does not know where his new passion for pinstripe art will take him, but he is thoroughly enjoying the ride.
