Released on July 13th, 1964, and setting a record (The Beatles were the first ever act to capture the Number One spot on both the singles and albums charts simultaneously in the US and UK), ‘ A Hard Day's Night ‘ was a monumental achievement for The Beatles. Achieving gold status on August 25th, 1964., it was written by John Lennon, and it's title, taken from a quip by Ringo Starr, is shared with the band's first feature film.
The plaque with the seal of the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) states: " Presented to The Beatles to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the Capitol Records Pop Single Record 'A Hard Day's Night ’ ”.
This RARE and early white matte award is presented in the original frame. In fine condition with some minor wear to the frame and light staining on the matte. Measures approx. 13 ¼” x 17 1/8”.
The reverse of the award has a rare sticker on brown paper indicating it was assembled by authorized RIAA framer ' New York Frame and Picture Co. ‘
Very few white matte RIAA Gold Awards® were created for a particular single.
