A layered composition where color, metal, wood, and line exist in conversation—each element visible, suspended, and working together through depth and light.

This piece is built slowly in layers, using resin as both structure and lens. I begin by tinting clear resin with translucent red and pouring it into a custom tray. After the resin sets slightly, glitter is introduced and a half-inch wood panel—airbrushed with translucent color to preserve the grain—is embedded into the surface.

Once cured, the resin is sanded and 23k gold leaf is applied, bordered, and spun, then sealed beneath another layer of tinted resin. This cycle of sanding, gilding, outlining, and pouring repeats as gold leaf squares, silver leaf diamonds, and variegated leaf forms are introduced, each suspended at different depths to create dimension and movement.

Pinstriping is added in stages—maroon, orange, and aqua—each sealed under clear resin before the next element is applied. Some of the leaf overlaps the striping, allowing color and metal to interact through the layers.

When the resin reaches full depth, the piece is released from the tray, the edges are squared and notched, and a final flood coat is poured to refine the surface. The back is finished, mounting blocks are installed, and the entire piece is wet-sanded and polished to a high-gloss finish.
