In Photographer Tommy's own words... " I returned backstage a few minutes before half past seven, just before it was time for The Beatles to go on stage. This was the moment I had planned for, when I would take their photograph. Earlier, I had given them the briefest instructions of what I had in mind. Now it was the time - jackets on and away. As they did up their buttons, I was outside their dressing room with my camera at the ready. As requested, they began to form in a group with Paul and Ringo at the front and George and John at the back, although John and George started to mess around as though they had lost something. I shot off one frame, then two, still imperfect, until John and George finally moved closer to the others and everyone was facing directly into the lens. I'd asked them to look into the camera and act as if it was a mirror and they were straightening their ties. I only had time to shoot off one more picture, and that was it. They raced away from me shouting like a gang of schoolboys let out to play. As The Beatles were introduced to the stage, the fans finally let themselves go and there was an explosion of young girls' screams. "
